This new adapter allows any standard patch cable to breakaway in the event of a sudden pull to prevent damage to equipment. This so-called "Break-Away Adapter" can thus protect mobile and permanently installed devices and equipment from damage. The adapter's RJ45 jack has a release force that is far below standard values. This means that torn contacts or sockets can be avoided without compromising transmission quality. The new adapter can be easily integrated into existing cabling structures by inserting it between the junction box and patch cable, for example.
